Christmas Toy Appeal 2012

November 23, 2012 by Brian Lane 2 Comments

Christmas Toy Appeal 2012

Parent Support Team each year organises a Christmas Toy appeal.  This is to ensure that disadvantaged families with children within the Conwy Borough receive at least one present for Christmas.

How long does this take to plan and what’s involved?

The preparation for Christmas starts early in the autumn.  Over numerous years we have been lucky enough to establish good contacts, new collection points for our boxes and ongoing support from the Victoria Centre in Llandudno.

We decorate large boxes with details on so that people are able to donate with ease.

We give Social workers referral forms so they can then identify children who are most in need and who would not receive a present for Christmas.  All applications are then considered and processed very quickly.

During December we collect all the toys from boxes as they are filled, very quickly are small office starts to resemble Santa’s grotto.

We then sort all the toys into age groups and gender so we can process all the applications in time for Christmas.

So… What can you do?

We would ask you to buy a gift or gift voucher for a child and to think about the age you are buying for.  We have in past years struggled with gifts for teenagers, in particular girls and baby toys.  ALL DONATIONS NEED TO BE NEW AND NOT WRAPPED.

Where can people drop of toys?

The General Public can drop off toys at the following venue

VictoriaShopping Centre, Llandudno.

However if you know an employee of Conwy County Borough Council they may be able to put your gift in the internal Toy Collection points dotted around the CCBC offices.

What is the last date that the collection point in the Victoria Centre will be available?
We in the RNLI shop in St Georges Place, Llandudno have collected £75 and will buy toys to put in the collection box.
    Thank you

      Good Morning Susan,
Thank you very much for your kind offer, as the gifts & toys are begining to come into the office we have identified that we have a shortage of teenage gifts, if possible £10 gift vouchers for HMV would be fantastic.

We really appreciate your kindness, especially in these testing times.

      THANK YOU.
