I have extremely fond memories of my childhood Christmases, I was very upset to think that there was a possibility that some children wouldn’t have a single present to open on Christmas Day. Although I donated a gift last year, I think I thought about it more this year as I’ve taken on a Sessional Support Worker role with Conwy’s Children and Families Service, and I didn’t like to think of children, much like the fantastic kids I work with, going without.
I donated one present, but realised that there would be other people who may like to donate, but were perhaps unaware that this kind of charity existed. So, I put the message out on Facebook and Twitter and asked my mum to let her colleagues in Llandudno HSBC know too. Within one day I’d been given 10 presents, with more being promised. Within a week I’d received many more gifts along with cash donations – with one very generous lady giving me £100!! I loved being able to use this money to go and buy a range of presents for the children – I felt like a big kid myself in some of the toy shops!! I’m really grateful to all of the people who either spent time to choose a gift for me to pass on, or were happy to donate money – because of their kindness some children will be very happy on Christmas Day, and to me, that’s what Christmas is all about. All the presents are going to be donated to the Conwy Christmas Toy Appeal
